Thanks to our years of extensive experience we are able to offer basic repairs like soldering, ring sizing and stone replacements to completely re-modelling an heirloom.  All our jewellery repairs are handled and carried out professionally and usually within 7 to 10 days. If you can’t wait, you could always use our Fast-Track Service, which ensures your much-loved piece is back with you as soon as possible.

With our enviable list of expert suppliers and Goldsmiths jewellery manufacturing is a service that is proving to be very popular, so if there is a piece of jewellery that you are struggling to find, we are confident that we will be able to manufacture it for you – just email us the details or drop in an image or sketch.

We encourage all of our customers to call in to have their jewellery cleaned and checked on a regular basis, free of charge.  This service is key to the maintenance of your jewellery as we are able to inspect and identify any work that is required to keep your pieces safe and secure.

We know that many pieces of jewellery can be well-loved over the years, so our Goldsmith has the experience and knowledge to completely restore your piece back to its original glory.  We can also advise on re-modelling jewellery that might be dated to your taste. Again, his work has proved very popular with customers who have inherited an heirloom and want to keep it for sentimental reasons but find it is not suited to their personal style. We are able to use the stones and precious metal to create a more contemporary piece, better suited to your needs.

Most pieces of white gold will eventually need to have the rhodium re-coated just through wear, in particular rings.  This is a straight forward process where we clean, polish and then rhodium plate your piece making it look just as good as the day you purchased it.

If you have broken your beloved necklace or bracelet, we can restring your pearls or beads quickly at great value, so you can wear your jewellery again! We also supply various replacement clasps and catches. We restring jewellery with or without knots depending on your choice. Knotting between each pearl will limit any damage caused by rubbing, and will also avoid the pearls from coming loose if the jewellery breaks again. We use secure and durable threads including silks, elastic, clear nylon and soft flexible wire.

We are able to offer our customers a truly personal and bespoke service with the opportunity to commission a unique piece of jewellery, tailored to taste and budget. The design team guides individuals through the design process, from an initial consultation to scale drawings of the chosen design. Our team of working jewellers then brings the bespoke design to life.

A key stage of the design process is usually the production of detailed hand-drawn designs by our Goldsmith.

Another route is using Computer Aided Design (CAD).  This 3D process can either be employed to enable the client to more closely visualise how the finished piece will look or can also be an intrinsic part of the manufacturing process, as they can use the CAD image to 3D print the ring before casting!

At Hemstock's Jewellers we can offer a wide range of repairs and services to most watches as we have the facility to employ many different workshops depending on the timepiece and work required. Our technicians are able to repair very basic brands to the very exclusive luxury brands. Our workshops can carry out a full service to simply changing a battery and resealing. If you are interested in finding out more information please contact us.

Our in-house technicians can change watch batteries on most watch brands, fit watch straps, watch lugs, and bracelets and make alterations while you wait.

Here at Hemstock's Jewellers we believe that you should ensure your jewellery and watch collection is fully protected by carrying out a detailed and up-to-date valuation. Valuations offer you the peace of mind that your treasures are protected. Over time, jewellery has a tendency to appreciate in value faster than many insurance policies take into account.

Without an accurate up to date valuation you run the risk of being under insured in the event of loss, damage or theft. Many insurance companies even insist that you have items over a certain value specified individually on your policy and regularly valued to ensure the limits are adequate. Please check your individual policy details for further information.

We can provide full details including size and qualities of your items should your insurance company require it in the event of a claim. Without this proof you may find that replacement is based on an item of “average” quality rather than what you have actually lost. Having your jewellery valued every 2-5 years will ensure any information about market values is up to date.

Here is a list of the different valuations we are offer:

  • Insurance valuation
  • Probate valuation
  • Private sale
  • Divorce / family separation
  • Sale between two parties

Anyone who has had to replace lost, stolen or damaged jewellery will tell you that it can be an emotional time. Many find that insurance companies give conflicting advice or worse, push their customers to only use their preferred advisers. While we hope that you never have to replace a special piece of jewellery or watch it’s worth remembering that an insurance company cannot force you to use specific suppliers.

If this unfortunate situation ever arises, come and see us at Hemstock's Jewellers and we will do all we can to replace what you have lost, even if your piece was bespoke. We can then provide a written quotation for the item.
